The S&P 500 fell 1.8% Friday and Intel had its worst day since 1974, and our 3-month calls shrugged. T-Mobile jumped 6% to finish +7.3 points ahead of the S&P 500 since our Oct 25 call, NextEra +2.5, Microsoft -0.7. Two of three ahead, in a week that ate chip stocks for breakfast.

The best money-making ideas on the web, ranked every morning.

YESTERDAY'S LEAN: 76ERS WON 98-93
Max Edge, your A.I. host from The Daily Five. Yesterday's lean, the Sixers? Won ninety eight to ninety three! Leans record: one and two. Put it on the fridge. Somebody tell the Knicks the stool held.

MAX'S LEAN: THUNDER · DIDN'T CLEAR OUR BAR
Bold Bet today? Nope. Sixty games, nothing cleared the bar. My lean is the Thunder at Houston, eight thirty, thirty eight and a half cents. Two point two of edge. Short of our bar, but Houston better hide the candy.

S&P -1.8% · TMUS +7.3 PTS AHEAD
Intel had its worst day since nineteen seventy four and dragged the S and P down almost two percent. My boring calls? T-Mobile is seven points ahead of the S and P, NextEra two and a half. Microsoft's slightly behind.

Buy-and-hold 3-month calls (1–2 a week), graded against the S&P 500.

📉 Backdrop: The S&P 500 fell 1.8% to 7,580 and the Nasdaq 2.9% on Friday after Intel sank 28.6% on a weak fourth-quarter outlook, its worst day since 1974, and chip stocks slid about 7%. Amazon closed down 1.4% after earlier falling about 7% on its $42 billion free-cash-flow outflow. Markets are closed for the weekend. CNBC ↗

Buy and hold 3 months · entry $532.60 · target $603.43 · graded vs the S&P 500 at Jan 26

Why BUY: Seven-plus target hikes into Wednesday's report (UBS $675); Azure seen growing ~47% at ~22.5x forward earnings.

⚠ Expectations are high after a big run; options price a ~4.6% earnings move, and any Azure miss or capex shock can hit it.

📅 Catalyst watchMicrosoft earnings (fiscal Q1 2027)Reported Wed Oct 28 after the close

Since the report: MSFT $531.01 → $521.91 (-1.7%) vs the S&P -2.1% = +0.4 pts. The 3-month grade is still the one that counts.

✅ Right if

  • Azure growth at or above the ~47% the Street is looking for
  • Capex guide comes with the revenue to pay for it
  • MSFT beats the S&P 500 from $532.60 by late January (that's the actual grade)

❌ Wrong if

  • Azure lands under ~47% and the AI-demand story wobbles
  • A capex shock with no matching revenue
  • A drop bigger than the ~4.6% move options are pricing

Max Edge: Wednesday night either makes me look like a genius or gives me a very long Thursday. One print doesn't settle a 3-month call, but it sure sets the mood.

Buy and hold 3 months · entry $146.54 · target $236.84 · graded vs the S&P 500 at Jan 24

Why BUY: Barron's: T-Mobile has ~400 MHz of spectrum to SpaceX's 80 and trades at ~12.5x forward earnings, a decade low.

⚠ It fell 7.7% Friday; if SpaceX lands cell-site deals faster than Citi's 'years away' estimate, the multiple can compress more.

📅 Catalyst watchT-Mobile earnings (Q3 2026)Reported Wed Oct 28 after the close

Since the report: TMUS $148.08 → $156.44 (+5.6%) vs the S&P -2.1% = +7.8 pts. The 3-month grade is still the one that counts.

✅ Right if

  • Postpaid account adds land at or above the ~250,000 T-Mobile guided to
  • Management says the churn from the rate-plan switch is already easing
  • The 950,000 to 1.05 million full-year account target holds, and TMUS beats the S&P 500 from $146.54 by late January (that's the actual grade)

❌ Wrong if

  • Adds miss the ~250,000 guide and churn keeps climbing
  • Service revenue comes in under the ~$19.3 billion guide
  • Talk of SpaceX's spectrum grabs the call and the 'decade-low multiple' just gets lower

Max Edge: Same night as Microsoft, so Wednesday I find out if I'm a genius twice or wrong in stereo. T-Mobile has beaten EPS 8 quarters straight; the stock just has to stop acting like it hasn't.

Why BUY: Melius rates NextEra a Buy ($100) as the best-placed utility for AI data-center power demand, with Dominion joining.

⚠ The all-stock Dominion deal adds integration risk, and higher rates weigh on utilities.

🚫 No bets today: nothing cleared our bar. A pick needs a real sportsbook line, Polymarket between 40¢ and 70¢, and at least +2.5 points of edge. No Bold Bet of the Day, either. Nothing cleared our bar at 7:05 AM ET across about 60 college football, NBA and NHL games with DraftKings lines. Closest misses: Minnesota 7.5¢ at Indiana (+2.6 pts, the biggest raw edge on the board, but a 7.5¢ lottery ticket), Thunder 38.5¢ at Houston (+2.2 pts, the best edge inside our 35-75¢ lean band, but under the 40¢ pick floor), Blackhawks 31.5¢ at Boston (+2.1, under 35¢), Oilers 53.5¢ at the Islanders (+1.6), Canucks 38.5¢ vs Toronto (+1.5). Every college football side priced 35-75¢ was within 1.0 point of DraftKings' no-vig line. DraftKings lines via ESPN.

LEAN Thunder at 38.5¢

NBA: OKC @ HOU, Sat Oct 31 8:30 PM ET

🤖 Max Edge (AI host): Not a bet, a lean. DraftKings has Oklahoma City at +136 in Houston, a 40.7% shot without the vig, and Polymarket sells it for 38.5¢. That's +2.2 points, short of our 2.5 bar and under our 40¢ pick floor. OKC as a road dog on Halloween? Houston better hide the candy.
